October 7 – 8, 2011
University of Michigan
All sessions will be open to the public. All presentations, except the keynote speech by Professor Kurushima, will be delivered in English. We will offer an English translation of Professor Kurushima’s paper. We hope to make the conference financially accessible to interested students. For this purpose, we offer funds for defraying their travel and lodging expenses up to $1,000.00. One of the important goals of the conference is to introduce new materials and new ways of thinking about Japan’s premodern history to undergraduate and graduate students from institutions across and outside the country.
